Our director, Tim, actively participates in weekly studio sessions alongside aspiring young artists. These sessions provide a safe and respectful environment for these individuals to express their creativity. Throughout the program, he nurtures their songwriting, recording, and performance skills, culminating in significant growth over the course of the year. As part of their journey, participants also have the opportunity to showcase their talents with regular performances at local venues.
Our mission is to empower our youth, instilling in them the belief that self-confidence, education, understanding, effective communication, and self-respect are the cornerstones of becoming not only accomplished music artists but also respected global citizens.
Every week, our program welcomes hundreds of young individuals ranging in age from 12 to 25. Our director directly engages with them, nurturing respect and trust while offering music production, DJ skills, songwriting, and valuable life guidance. The majority of these young participants face various challenges, including domestic violence, harassment, gang-related issues, substance abuse, and mental health concerns. TMC Media is committed to providing them with support and opportunities for a brighter future through the program and our wider platform.
This project was created for RUOK Day 2023, which falls on Thursday, September 14. RUOK Day serves as a reminder to Australians to initiate meaningful conversations and ask, "Are you OK?" whenever they notice someone they care about might be facing difficulties.
The showcased artists are all participants in the Sydenham Neighbourhood House program, led by Tim McCartney. This program was established to provide a safe space for at-risk youths to nurture their creativity and discover pathways to employment.
